John Riley, President

A 35 year veteran of the homebuilding industry, John Riley has done it all.  Starting as a teenager, John has been at every level of the profession and has never forgotten where he started.  This experience shows in everything that our company stands for.  John takes a personal interest in every aspect of the job, from foundations and framing to finish work.  Always keeping abreast of the latest trends, John makes it a point to seek out the best materials and newest methods of work to make your job run smoother, more efficiently and ensure that we meet deadlines and budgets.  You will see John on the jobsite at least every other day, ensuring that everything is meeting our standards as well as yours.

Chuck Russell, Senior Field Superintendent

There is no substitute for hands-on experience and Chuck has over 40 years in our industry.  The most versatile member of our crew, Chuck has held every position in the field and has 35 years of supervisory experience to his credit.  He also assists with estimating and project management.  Chuck  is also a hands-on type of supervisor and has a particular affinity for the finer points of finish carpentry.  It is not uncommon to see him with a tool belt on finishing a closet or installing cabinets or even working on the framing crew.

When he is not working he enjoys outdoor sports and spending time with his Cairn Terrier, Bailey.

Tyler Smith, Field Superintendent

Tyler is our working field superintendent.  Well versed with all methods of residential construction, Tyler is also our commercial construction expert.  He not only runs the majority of our jobsites in the field but also performs as lead carpenter on many of them.  Our customers always comment on Tyler’s personality and ability to get the job done on time and within the budget.

Anthony Weller, Lead Carpenter

The consummate carpenter.  We truly believe Tony is one of the finest craftsmen in our business.  From framing to trim-out, Tony can make it work.  As the son of a local architect, he has been immersed in homebuilding for most of his life.  He keeps our crews running efficiently and ensures that we meet all of our labor deadlines.  With over 35 years of experience Tony has seen just about everything and is our framing problem-solver.

Bob Stibbe, Estimator

“How much will my project cost?”  As the Estimator for Riley Custom Homes, Bob’s job is to answer this question as accurately as possible.  The answer to this question is usually not as easy as a few simple figures and is never determined by the square foot.

Since we must combine our manpower, equipment, multiple subcontractors and a highly diversified assortment of materials into your cost estimate, it is critical that someone with experience in all of these facets of the process be able to bring them together as a whole.  Having spent several years in the field as a carpenter, superintendent and project coordinator, Bob has the experience necessary to produce a real-world cost analysis.  He also conducts research on new materials and techniques to help us build your home smarter, and more cost-effectively.

Ulric Dahlgren V, Project Coordinator

As the Project Coordinator for Riley Custom Homes, Ulric has two goals:  keep the job on time and on budget.  Ulric has the ability to keep multiple projects moving smoothly by providing office support to our team in the field through the careful coordination of subcontractors, vendors, and material deliveries.  Ulric is also responsible for many of the administrative aspects of our projects, which include keeping track of change orders and expenditures, price comparing building materials, and organizing progress meetings.

Ulric is a descendant of the prominent Civil War admiral and inventor of the Dahlgren cannon, Rear Admiral John A. Dahlgren.  Considered the “Father of Naval Ordinance” Dahlgren made numerous contributions naval weaponry research and development, and was a trusted military advisor and close friend to Abraham Lincoln.   Ulric is a graduate of Frostburg State University with a B.S. in Psychology and Sociology.  He currently resides in Lothian, MD with his wife Nasrin and their new baby.
